Fred Meyer and UFCW Local 555 bargaining committees reconvened today to bargain the Portland and Bend meat and grocery contracts.  When the two parties met, the company presented its modified Best Offer to Settle, which includes health care benefit enhancements, more money in your pocket, and continued investment in your pension savings.

We will continue our discussions with the union next Thursday, August 29, and Friday, August 30, as we seek to reach a peaceful settlement towards your new contract.

We want you to have the facts, so we have posted our proposal here. If the proposed contract is ratified successfully and peacefully by September 5, we will be able to put the one-time ratification bonuses into your pocket as soon as possible.
