We will soon begin negotiations on your new contract with UFCW Local 3000. I know these negotiations are important to you, they are also very important to me and the Fred Meyer Division. In that regard, our goals for this negotiation are:

• Provide you with a market-competitive wage and benefits package
• Continue to invest in your retirement benefits
• Enable our stores to remain competitive in an ever-changing retail environment

As we move forward with the negotiations process, we must be flexible so that we are able to do what is best for our associates, customers, and communities. Negotiations are about finding areas of agreement and working through issues where we disagree. It’s about understanding the Spokane and Eastern Washington market and allocating available resources in a balanced way for your wages, healthcare, pension, and other benefits. It’s about rewarding you and keeping our stores competitive, too.
