Progress Slows in Negotiations

As Fred Meyer and UFCW Local 555 were scheduled to meet yesterday, we were hopeful the union would return to the negotiations table and engage in meaningful dialogue on wages and benefits for you, our associates. Unfortunately, the union stalled negotiations in front of the bargaining committees until late afternoon.  At that time, they presented an offer that did not include wages. We are disappointed in this lack of progress, but we remain committed to reaching a fair and equitable agreement.

What’s New:  In our efforts to reach a fair agreement for all parties, we seek a level playing field and are committed to engaging in good faith bargaining with UFCW Local 555. Due to the union’s failure to comply with certain terms of the existing agreements, the company was compelled to file 31 grievances. Filing grievances was not our preferred course of action, but it was necessary to address these contractual violations.

Why it Matters: From the start of negotiations, our wage and benefit proposals have been focused on honoring our responsibilities to you, and we’re determined to reach a resolution that benefits everyone.

What’s Next: We have presented available bargaining dates to your union for September and October, and we will update you as soon as we have those scheduled dates to share.

Bottom Line: We look forward to getting back to the table to get a balanced agreement that provides you with market competitive wages and benefits, while keeping groceries affordable, too.

If you have any additional questions, you are also invited to send those questions to [email protected] and we will try to answer them as soon as possible on the www.FredMeyerCBA.com website.  Thank you for all that you do to support each other and our communities.
