Union Calls Strike Authorization Vote

News

December 2nd, 2021

We understand that UFCW Local 555 recently asked members to attend a meeting to vote on strike authorization. We don’t understand why the union is asking you to go down this road now. It doesn’t make sense.

Consider the following:

  • We have been making progress in negotiations and have come to a tentative agreement on safety. This has been the union’s focus during the limited number of dates they have offered the company to bargain.
  • Neither the company nor union have made any economic proposals, yet.
  • Why is the union asking you to jeopardize potentially your paycheck and benefits right before the holidays?
  • We know that several areas contribute to wellness for all of us. The company is committed to taking care of you as a whole person, which means investing in good wages, affordable health care, and a pension for when you retire. You can influence the union’s request for strike authorization by voting at the union’s upcoming meetings.

We believe no one wins with a strike. Not our associates. Not our customers. Not our company. The union may try to convince you otherwise.

The choice is yours.

Do what is right for you and your family.
