Union’s Strike Authorization Call Premature

On August 5 and 6, Fred Meyer and UFCW Local 555 bargaining committees resumed negotiations for the Portland and Bend meat and grocery contracts.  We continued open dialogue, discussed areas of concern, and scheduled our next meetings for August 14 and 15.

We understand the concerns raised by the union and want to address them directly.  During the bargaining process we hold ourselves to the highest ethical standard to achieve the best outcome for you, our dedicated associates. We are confident the unions allegations against us will be proven unfounded.

We are fully committed to continuing negotiations in good faith next week and encourage the union to do the same on behalf of you.

Our goal is to ensure you are rewarded for your contributions to the company, including fair compensation, affordable and industry-leading healthcare, and a secure pension for your retirement.  Your hard work and dedication are deeply valued.

We will continue to keep you updated on negotiations through huddles, handouts, store bulletin boards, and posts on this site.  Thank you for your service and support of our customers, our communities, and each other.
